 AB2534 INFORMATION

Effective January 1, 2025, in accordance with California Education Code Section 44939.5 (amended by AB 2534) all applicants for certificated positions are legally required to provide a complete and accurate record of all prior employment with Local Education Agencies (LEAs), school districts, county offices of education, charter schools, state special schools, and other educational institutions, regardless of the length of service. 

As part of the hiring process, Esparto Unified will verify employment history, which include obtaining information from previous employers regarding credible allegations, investigations, or disciplinary actions related to egregious misconduct as defined by Education Code Section 44932.

PRE-KINDERGARTEN (pK)

To learn more about how to qualify for a Pre-Kindergarten (PK) position with Esparto Unified School District, please review the following information:

CTC CRITERIA TO TEACH PK

Education Code section 48000(g) requires credentialed teachers who are first assigned to a TK classroom after July 1, 2015 to have one of the following by August 1, 2025:

• At least 24 units in early childhood education, or childhood development, or both.

• Professional experience in a classroom setting with preschool age children comparable to the 24 units of education described in bullet 1 (comparability determined by the local employing agency).

• Child Development Teacher Permit issued by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

Note, any teacher who is or was assigned to teach TK, or a combination of kindergarten and TK, on or before July 1, 2015, is "grandfathered in" to teach TK without having to meet the additional unit requirement for TK teachers set forth in Education Code section 48000(g).

EUSD CRITERIA TO TEACH PK

Esparto Unified School District's approved professional experience options equivalent to 24 units include:

• 2 years teaching in a TK/PK classroom

• 2 years teaching in a Kindergarten classroom

• 2 years teaching as Lead Teacher in a Preschool classroom

• A combination of TK/PK, Kindergarten, Lead Preschool Teacher experience for at least 2 years
